6th April 2012: Powers Park Plantation blocks 21 & 23 Green Triangle, South Australia.
A lightning storm which moved through the Green Triangle started a number of fires, one of which caused damage to a plantation comprising part the Great Southern Plantations 2001 Project. The fire in Powers Park 2001 Plantation blocks 21 & 23 burnt approximately 5 ha.
We will determine the exact extent of the damage after a thorough inspection of the plantation. The insurance brokers have been notified. Any affected growers will be notified by letter.
31st March 2012: Fire in Kangaroo Island, South Australia. Anderson Plantation.
A small fire burnt approximately 0.5 hectares of plantation in Block 8 of the Anderson plantation on Kangaroo Island. The plantation comprises part of the Great Southern Plantations 2005 Project.
We will determine the exact extent of the damage after a thorough inspection of the plantation. The insurance brokers have been notified. Any affected growers will be notified by letter.
13th March 2012: Fire in Victoria - Yamil and Fletcher Plantation - Great Southern 2000 Scheme
A bushfire burnt through approximately 45 ha of the Yamil Plantation and approximately 0.5 ha of the Fletcher Plantation located near Branxholme in Victoria. Both plantations comprise part of the Great Southern 2000 Scheme.
This fire was attended by crews from the CFA, Gunns, other forestry companies and two (2) DES water bombing helicopters.
We will determine the exact extent of the damage after a thorough inspection.
The insurance brokers have been notified.
Any affected growers will be notified by letter.
18 October 2011: Fire in Queensland Boreelum Plantation - Great Southern 2004 Scheme
A bushfire has burnt through approximately 25ha (cause of fire: lightning strike)
of the Boreelum Plantation in the Great Southern 2004 Scheme in Queensland.
GPL will be notified of the exact extent of the damage by Gunns Forest Products
staff after a thorough inspection.
The insurance brokers have been notified.
Any affected growers will be notified by letter.
19th October 2010: Fire in Western Australia Plunket Plantation- Great Southern 2002 and 2003 Scheme
- A bushfire has burnt through 644ha (cause of fire unknown at this stage) of the Plunkett Plantation in Great Southerns 2002 Scheme (559ha) and 2003 Scheme (85ha) in Western Australia.
- Fire weather conditions at the time of the fire was (at nearby Albany Airport) Relative Humidity- 7%, Dew Point -8.1, Dry Bulb Temperature of 32 -34 degrees, wind gusts over 50 kph.
- The majority of this plantation has been damaged, GPL will be notified of the full extent of the damage by Gunns Forest Products staff after a thorough inspection.
- The insurance brokers have been notified.
- Any affected growers will be notified by letter.
