Fire Update

28th February 2012: Fire in D07DW305A Plantation South East Tasmania Gunns Plantation’s Woodlot Project 2008

A bushfire has burnt through approximately 50 ha of the D07DW305A - Planting Option 1 (Forest Lodge) plantation in Gunns Plantation’s Woodlot Project 2008. This fire was a part of a much larger fire known as the “Meadowbank fire” At the peak of the fire it was attended by 22 Tasmanian Fire service units and 2 water bombing helicopters.

The weather conditions in the area were extreme with temperatures close to 40 degrees, low humidity and strong winds. The fire burnt in excess of 5,000 ha of scrub, farmland and some eucalypt and pine plantations.

The insurance brokers have been notified.

Any affected growers will be notified by letter.
